TAP Advanced

Senior Advanced Intensive

June 3 – July 1

Advanced Camp is an addition to Senior Camp for ages 14 through 18. Campers who register for Senior Camp may submit a video audition for acceptance into the Advanced Camp. This is not a program for the sometime performer, but rather for young people who are interested in continuing their performing arts education at the collegiate level. Through a series of private lessons, this select group will hone their talents and create a portfolio of songs or monologues for their college auditions.

*Application with video submission required. See How to Apply for more details.*

Typical Classes

Choosing the right college
It is often difficult to know where to start when you are thinking about college programs. They all offer different degrees and specialize in different areas. Instructors will guide these students through a process to choose the right type of college and, in turn, create a list of colleges to apply to.

The Art of College Auditions
Auditioning for college is different from auditioning for professional work. Colleges are looking for students who are ready to train for four years, students they feel they can mold over time. There is an art to these auditions that our instructors have spent years working on.

Monologue & Song Preparation
This will consist of practical coaching sessions aimed at giving the individual student the means to achieve at least one presentable audition monologue and one audition song.

Mock Auditions
After two weeks, campers will go through a mock college audition. Each camper will be given verbal and/or written evaluations of their work from teachers and guest artists.

*NOTE: All campers for TAP Junior, TAP Senior, and TAP Advanced are required to audition at the beginning of camp. Auditions are held for many reasons. The staff will get the opportunity to know all the campers and their strengths and weaknesses in all types of performance. Additionally the staff will be able to make casting decisions about the final showcase, place campers in the correct class levels, and make sure that all classes are challenging and appropriate. All campers will participate in multiple sections of the audition. The audition process will be conducted in a professional and encouraging environment. It will be fun, but we are expecting your personal best. Visit Placement Auditions for more information.
